Labor Day Weekend and Grandmas Visit

What a great way to wrap up the summer! My mom came to visit us for the first time for the extended weekend, and we were all so excited to see her.

We showed her around the San Fransisco Bay area. We went to Pier 39, the Aquarium of the Bay, a bunch of great restaurants, a vineyard and a some local parks too.

The kids proudly gave her a tour of their bedroom and bathroom, their school, and also got a kick out of her watching them exercise in their weekly gym class. It was too cute!

Amongst all the chaos, and while the kids were at school, my mom taught me how to make ghormeh sabzi!!!!

I can proudly say I now know how to make this dish. Honestly though it wasn’t as difficult as I made it out to be in my head. It’s just so time consuming though. It literally took over three hours, but I’m glad we made a huge batch and froze it.

All the kids literally gobble this up. They eat it with rice and me and hubby eat it with cauliflower rice. It’s SO GOOD- and it’s the PERFECT Persian low carb keto dish!!!!

Me and hubby also got to go on a DATE NIGHT! We went for drinks and a movie, while my mom babysat the kids. This was a really big deal for us, as the last time we went on a date night without the kids was over a year ago, and the last time we saw a movie in the movie theatre was 5 years ago! Before Valentino was born!!! So we felt really weird about it, and didn’t know what to do with ourselves. We just literally talked about the kids the whole time.

We saw Crazy Rich Asians. What a cute fun movie! This whole date night thing was fantastic….but is it weird that I had a bit of mom guilt about it??? Mom guilt is a real thing, and apparently dad-guilt is a thing too!

Anyways, we dropped off my mom at the airport after a nice long weekend and it was sad to see her go, but now it’s back to reality and back to the grind. I have to kick hubby’s butt to get back to work and I need to kick the kids butts to do their best in school and also make time for their “homework” and extra classes. I’m pretty much going to be their tutor, chauffeur, and chef. Oh the many hats!
